RB20 is a project realised for Sos Mediterranee, an NGO that operates to save migrants in the Mediterranee. The buoy consists of a toroid with a diameter of 20 cm and it represents a path into a scenario that is reason of political opposition, in which the design seems to struggle to intervene, due to the lack of marketing and social attention.During night rescues, Sos Mediterranee use light buoy as a signal and to transfer migrants from the battel to the life - boat. Standard floats have a shell that is less than 50 % below sea level. In addition, most of the available products have a white filament, making them barely visible to Sos Mediterranee operators. Instead RB20 uses a red LED powered by lithium batteries.
